Whether the breeding goal involves temperament, fertility, daily gain or trophy, Deer Trophy Farm is going to try to breed the best. Selection is going to be based in measured phenotypic traits like antler parameters, daily gain, weaning weight and mature body weight.
Our plan to use estimated breeding values in our selection programme. Deer Trophy Farm continuously updates their website with the newest records.
All antlers are measured following this method:
Antler parameters:
- main beam length
- weight
- internal spread
- external spread
- etc.
Calculated numbers from the antler parameters:
- Nadler points
- C.I.C. international points
- S.C.I. points
Body weights are recordes for both sexes::
Recorded body weight parameters:
- Birth weight
- Weaning weight
- Continuously recorded weight
- Mature body weight
Calculated growth rates from the measured weight parameters are the follow:
- Daily weight gain between birth and weaning (g/day)
- Daily weight gain between birth and 9 months of age (g/day)
- Daily weight gain between birth and 15 months of age (g/day)
- Daily weight gain between weaning and 15 months of age (g/day)
- Daily weight gain between 9 and 15 months of age (g/day)
- Daily weight gain between birth and 27 months of age (g/day)
- Daily weight gain between weaning and 27 months of age (g/day)
- Daily weight gain between 9 and 27 months of age (g/day)
- Daily weight gain between 15 and 27 months of age (g/day)
- Daily weight gain between birth and 39 months of age (g/day)
